Ifyou look at the guidance for domestic cookers the IET guidance is 10A plus 30% of any current above that. So a typical 50A large cooker would be taken as 10 + 0.3* (50-10) = 22A for circuit rating. Again, this is domestic, if you are designing for a professional kitchen they have significantly higher usage.

Andfigures shown are calculated with the cable being surrounded by thermal insulation and not touching the wall. For example, the current-carrying capacity of 2.5mm twin and earth cable is 20 to 23 amps. These figures may vary depending on the quality of the cabling. Electrical Cable Size Rating in Amps. 1mm up to 13; 1.5mm 14 to 16.5;

Aluminiumand Copper Current Carrying Capacity Calculation Chart in Sqmm: Aluminium and copper are the most available material in the earth, but the copper conductor carries 40% extra current than the aluminium conductor.. But the cost to sqmm points of view, i.e the cost of 3 core 35sqmm aluminium cable has Rs 1.6per sq. meter
Soa 5KW and 22amps draw maximum at one time what size Armoured cable should I use will 3 core 2.5mm be ok or should I go higher, I think the maximum draw will be less that 3.5KW. JP. Screwfix Select. Morning Andy. 6mm or even 10mm would be far superior - headroom is the name of the game..
Howevermy main question is regarding the circuit protection/current rating of the 2.5mm Hi-Tuff cable, since it is of a flexible construction (rather than a solid 2.5mm T&E) is it satisfactory to be protected by a 32 amp protective device? The overload protection is by the two 13A fuses in the plugs. 2.5mm² flexible cable is rated at 25A

Standardground temperature: 20ºC. Ambient air temperature: 30ºC. Maximum conductor temperature: 90ºC. For 2 core – single phase a.c., 3 & 4 core – three phase a.c. – ratings do not apply if the cable is protected by a semi-enclosed fuse to BS3036. For cables of 5 cores and above it is assumed only 2 cores are loaded
