Set it to normal, unless you specifically want the game to be more difficult. It does not make the lords smarter or more aggressive. It just makes the game balanced less in your favor. And again, it does NOT help lords on your side. Don’t do it. Make damage realistic, turn up combat difficulty, and turn off autoblock.

They have decent buffs, so they do become useful. I think the Leadership tree having perk that lets you convert bandits to noble units still has some merit. It used to be that converting forest bandits to regular units was the best way to get Fians, but that since has changed. However, it is still nice to have.
